The first masonry heater to break into American awareness following the oil crisis of 1973, Russian fireplaces are in many ways the simplest of the designs to build.  Although we find the Finnish Contraflow fireplaces capable of accomplishing the same purpose with more flexibility, we occasionally build fireplaces of Russian design.
