Traditionally Styled Fireplaces

 

We prefer to build traditional fireplaces to the more efficient Rumford design.

Count Rumford, born Benjamin Thompson, would undoubtedly have been one of our founding fathers save for his loyalty to King George.  He is remembered, among other things, for his name and likeness on the popular baking powder, and for an innovative design which greatly increases the radiant heat from an open fireplace.

Several manufacturers have worked with applications of Rumford's design to make it more buildable and efficient.  We work with these manufacturers as well as an occasional design entirely from 'scratch'.

Moberg Fireplaces, Inc. produces both the Modern Rumford kit and the more efficient and advanced Moberg MRCTM.  We install both of these models.
