Masonry Heaters
Masonry heaters are the descendants of traditional European fireplace designs, where the need for warmth in cold winter climates came up against an urgent requirement to conserve wood resources. They are unmatched in the ability to burn solid wood cleanly and with maximum efficiency. Their superiority over traditional metal stoves was recognized as far back as Mark Twain. Any of our masonry heater designs will produce significant radiant wood heat with a very comfortable low surface temperature. They are typically sized according to the space for which heat is desired and can be surfaced with almost any masonry or ceramic material.
Albiecore
Maine Wood Heat’s patented partial core system, designed by Albie Barden and fabricated at our headquarters in Central Maine, USA. Albie based his core on the enduring Finnish Contraflow design, adapting it to American standards with serviceability in mind. Available in standard and extended depth versions, the AlbieCore™ offers performance flexibility to fit a variety of installation and heating requirements.
Masonry Bake Ovens
Americans are again becoming interested in wood-fired baking, and ovens are being built solely for that purpose, often as part of a backyard kitchen and entertainment area. Warning: pizza fresh from your own oven can be addictive! We have the capability of building both custom built and modular bake ovens.
